Hmmm couldn't really see any fire engines from the gate at the main station but there's a small museum tucked at the corner with 3 old fire engines... Really old... hahahah... But for this very little boy, that'll do too!!! Hahaha....
He had his usual 'what-am-I-in-for' face... Haha... Looking at a group of children on excursion at the entrance, counting to hundred... After making our way through, there it was, a recognizable old fire engine in its full glory under the spotlight!! The little boy's eyes brightened!!!! Hehee... He wriggled down and went straight for the wheels and knobs at the side.... And he was suddenly very busy, darting here and there!! Refused to be carried when I wanted to show him things.... Oh well...
Managed to whisk him to the second floor for more exhibits. But I guess it was not quite suitable for him now at this age... Maybe because I find it difficult to explain the technicality of a SCDF personnel's job... How do u tell a 18month old about saving people from a collapsed building or not use a lift when there's fire?!! He jumped in fright when i tried the jet spray at the burning car stimulator!! haha... Next time, babe... When u come with your school friends and teachers... Hahhaha.... I'm sure they will walk you through everything here. :)
Meanwhile, he was contented pulling and tugging the fire hydrant... Hahaha.... Ok let's head downstairs again.
We went up and down the fire engine a couple of times and peeked at the real control room from a little window. Something in there was fascinating him as he kept going to the window to look in. Had to carry him up a few times.
Before we left, lukey was happy to see the little rescue vehicles in the show cabinets!! Look at his expressions!!! Hahaha...
And how could we leave the station without a helmet?!!! They were selling it at a little tiny shop just below the stairs... A little exorbitant but I guess the "full" experience of pretending to be a fireman after visiting a fire station is priceless... *wink, wink... Papa* hahahhaha..... And doesn't he look cute in it, papa?! Hahahah...
We still had time before lunch so I thought we will stop by the merlion. It's breathtaking when we stepped out of the lift into the open overlooking marina bay sands and the flier.. even under the freakingly, scorchingly hot sun!! Luke's first word was "boa" (boat) when we stepped out. Oh that as well.. Hahaha.... And he just stood at the railings and went "boa... boa... boa..."... Pointing at every boat!!
